2025
November
The band returns from The Wychavon Entertainments Contest, achieving 8th place. We took the decision to go out of our comfort zone of the Torquay Contest
and compete with unknown bands from other areas.
With our 20 min programme portraying the fate of the Titanic,
we certainly did not disgrace ourselves. We had very constructive comments from the adjudicator and comments from the audience,
of whom had never met or seen the band before, saying how they were moved by our programme.
This made us all very proud, and indeed, that is what music is all about, portraying emotions and atmosphere.
Congratulations goes out to our friends at Oakehampton Excelsior Sliver, South Moulton Town, Hatherleigh Sliver and Matt Green, MD of Roche Brass
after being placed in their respective sections at SWBBA Contest at Torquay.
October
We are busy rehearsing with our MD Ben Elliott for the Wychavon contest on the 1st November.
We recently held an open rehearsal.
Some videos can be found on the Meet the Band page.
July
With the addition of Ethan and Ross our cornet section is now back up to full strength, ready to take on the challenge of Wychavon.
We welcome Ethan into our front row team. Ethan studied trumpet at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He will be a great addition to our section.
We welcome Ross joining us on 3rd cornet filling a long standing vacancy.
Matt is leaving us at the end of July. He has only been with us for a short while. He will be missed as he was a great addition to our front row.
June
We are having a very busy summer so far.
We started at Devon County show with Gareth Davies conducting.
Our thanks goes to our assistant MD, Paul Pennicotte-Henrie and David Hayward for taking up the baton when Gareth was unavailabile.
Ben Elliot will be taking us for a few rehearsals over the summer.
A big welcome back to Pete.
Pete played bass with us until he moved to Lympstone band but now he is back,
filling the vacancy left by Roger.
May
After our successful performance at the Devon County Show, we started our Summer season at the Exeter Quays on Saturday 25th. On the Sunday we followed with a bright and early performance with some uplifting music to see out the keen runners undertaking the Great West Run under the baton of our newly appointed assistant MD, Paul Pennicotte-Henrie
We are very sad to say farewell to Roger, our principle Euphonium. Roger has been with the band for many years, his dedication and hard work will be missed. Not only was he our principle euphonium, he was also our assistant MD stepping into Gareth`s shoes at the last minute. Roger has taken on an amazing opportunity as MD of Tiverton Band. We wish him every success.
March
We welcome Hebe onto our front row.
We now have 5 Solo cornets.
With Hebe joining us, our cornet section is up to strength.
We now have a few rehearsals to build new repertoire into our summer programs and to start perparing for the Wychavon Festival of Brass.
We want to keep building on our bands success.
This would be a great time for you to contact us.
We have 5 Basses, 4 Trombomes, a stronge Euphonium section and a full Cornet section, we are now looking to strengthen the middle of the band.
If you are looking for a new challenge, want to play for a friendly positive band and have the willingness to take direction, please get in touch.
Your enquiry will be treated in confidence.
We welcome Millie who has joined us on percussion.
After a productive few months of building the band, our hard work has been rewarded with fourth place at the WEBBA Regional contest. This is a significant improvement from previous years and showcases the band's positivity and willingness to improve under the continued guidance of our MD, Gareth Davies.
Looking forward the result has put us in a very strong position in the 3rd section gradings for 2026, with a possible move into the 2nd section in 2027.
January
We welcome
Matt on cornet, Jennifer on trombone, and Andrew, Keith and Paul on bass.
We have also had an internal move around to cover the loss of last years players. We are now in a position to start the rehearsals for the WEBBA area later in the year.
2024
November
We are at the SWBBA contest in the 3rd section under Gareth Davies. We performed Lydian Pictures, coming 3rd. After this contest, we bid farewell to our 1st Trombone and Soprano Cornet. Earlier in the year we also lost our 1st Baritone. We wish them every success in their new adventures.

We are at the WEBBA area contest under Matt Green. We improved on last years result coming 9th keeping us in the 3rd section for another year.
January
We welcome Andy on Rep and welcome back Debbie on 2nd cornet.
2023
Losing some players has left us a little depleted in the cornet section but we leave 2023 on a high after coming 2nd in the third section at the SWBBA November contest playing Dimensions. We also won Best Horn Section.
